Valorant takes more than pure aim to win. To clutch you’ll need excellent decision-making, mechanics, game sense, and maybe a good Vandal skin from a bundle. These underrated teams could give some other teams a run for their money. While few esports teams are able to win major tournaments on a regular basis, there are some that have a lot of potential to be at the top or even take home a trophy.
When it comes to Valorant, there are many moving parts, strategy, and a team that cannot consistently outperform the others. A team member may underperform or over perform at any time, which could decide the round or even the entire game and give their team the advantage over the opposition. Many players look at the game in black and white only taking into account how many kills and deaths a player has instead of the impact they’re having on the team to make it easier to win round after round. This is also a reason why many struggle in Valorant Competitive. Here, we’ll examine each squad and provide some background on some potentially exciting new or existing organizations that you might not have known or completely forgotten.
Lil Bros
This team was formidable, finishing third in the Cozy Clash Tournament and first in the Sakura Cup. During the Sakura cup under their old name “Never woulda thought”, they won 7 games in a row with minimum difficulty. They were on a spectacular winning streak until they faced off against Supernova Galaxy in the grand finals, though it was a close match they lost 4 games in a row, one to Supernova Galaxy and two to Complexity, placing third in The Cozy Clash tournament. Lil bros could go much farther with more training and an effective plan, but they are not currently playing as a team. For some of the former members, there is good news. Sonder is currently a player for FlyQuest RED, and Emy is currently signed to Faze Clan.

DSG
Disguised (DSG) is a newly created esports org by Canadian youtuber Jeremy Wang aka Disguised Toast. Their first Valorant team was announced on January 8th 2023 to participate in its first tournament Valorant Lockdown 2 hosted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania competing in online opens to be invited to LAN. Dsg destroyed the competition but fell short in the Quarterfinals. Coming back from the drawing board they head to the Challengers League, absolutely demolishing the competition in the qualifiers until they matched against the bigger esports Valorant teams. After winning against two orgs they went on an 11 game losing streak.
Toast feeling defeat apologized to DSG fans for their shortcomings, later receiving a partnership with Bleed esports they rebuilt their roster in singapore where Bleed can offer support in equipment and VCT Experience from winning last years VCT Ascension tournament. Now with their new roster, JayH, Juicy, Riza, wayne, and bryce they’re looking to take over in Asia and want to make a huge comeback from last years results, this org should be on your watchlist for a possible top Valorant team.
DRX
With earnings of almost $1 million this Valorant team isn’t underrated as far as talent but to come out on top of big tournaments over highly skilled orgs. Before this group was signed to DRX they were originally called Vision Strikers, changing the meta in 2022 with their aggressive playstyle that a lot of other teams adopted till this day, getting them the contract with DRX. Unfortunately even though they’re competing against the top teams in the world they have not achieved their goals to stand at the top. With a lot in mind RB and Zest departed from DRX, RB signing with Titans Esports Club and Zest playing with a south korean unranked Valorant team called “Team IAM”.

Paper Rex
This list may seem out of place for this team considering Paper Rex is one of the most if not the most dominant team out there. Paper Rex hit this list to be underrated in terms of winning a major tournament, placing 2nd-3rd place in most of their tournaments that they competed in, earning the nickname the “Uncrowned Kings” by the public. Unfortunately Jingg, one of their star players played his possibly last tournament with Paper Rex due to an 18 month mandatory military service. The organization chose to not part ways with Jingg and changed his status to substitute. On September 16th 2023 Monyet was signed to Paper Rex as Jingg’s replacement.
The team’s playstyle shook the competition with their explosive offense, leaving most teams unsure what their next move would be in the past. Other teams have taken notes of their gameplay and adapted accordingly making Paper Rex predictable nowadays. If Paper Rex changes their gameplay to solidify their support this could be an unstoppable team in the games to come.
