Competitive can be a challenging mode in all games, but it doesn’t have to be hard to understand. It requires discipline which includes a daily routine from aim training, research, and mechanics training, supplemented with a valorant tracker. We searched the internet and brought to you the most important information from Valorant’s ranking system.
Valorant’s Ranking system shows you your skill level compared to your region. Ranks start from Iron 1 to Radiant, Each division has 3 ranks except for Immortal and Radiant. Every Level has a Rank Rating (RR) of 0 to 100, when you reach 100RR you are promoted to the next rank. Remember to not feel discouraged when playing, professional valorant teams struggle with competitive mode Outside of tournaments. While your performance makes the biggest difference it is still a team game that requires 5 players to work together.
Competitive Mode Requirements
Level 20 is the minimum requirement to participate in ranked. From there you’ll need 5 placement matches to reveal your rank and at the start of every episode.
Sometime before episode 4, you’d need to win 10 unrated matches to gain access to competitive mode but now that is no longer the case.
Valorant Rankings In Order
Iron 3 | Bronze 3 | Silver 3 | Gold 3 | Platinum 3 | Diamond 3 | Ascendant 3 | Immortal 3
Iron 2 | Bronze 2 | Silver 2 | Gold 2 | Platinum 2 | Diamond 2 | Ascendant 2 | Immortal 2 | Radiant
Iron 1 | Bronze 1 | Silver 1 | Gold 1 | Platinum 1 | Diamond 1 | Ascendant 1 | Immortal 1
Ranking decay
Good news! There is no rank decay in valorant but for Immortal and Radiant, it works a bit differently. These two ranks are on the Leaderboard and their positions can change if another player gains more RR than them. Though your RR did not decay the threshold for the rank can change affecting your rank.
Party Restrictions
Riot has done an amazing job of allowing parties to play with each other even if there’s a rank disparity in the party. When playing as a group with your friends as a group of 2-3 players there are rules and restrictions to be mindful of.
If the lowest in the team of 2-3 is Iron and or bronze the highest can only be silver of any tier. If the lowest is silver the highest can be gold of any tier. If the lowest is Platinum and up each rank can only play within 3 divisions of each other for ex. Diamond 1 to Platinum 1 or Ascendant 2 to Immortal 2.
While Groups of four players are not allowed, groups of 5 can play with each other without party restriction regardless of the rank disparity. With that being said there are rank penalties based on how big your rank disparity is.

Valorant Act Rank
Each Episode has 3 act ranks that will document your highest rank for each act. As you play your triangle badge will fill up with your lowest-ranked games at the bottom and your highest peak rank at the top, whatever is your highest rank will be your act rank.
At the beginning of every new episode, you’ll receive a gun buddy of your act rank. So do your best before the episode ends so you can have something to show off to your friends!
Ranking Distribution
According to the stats from valorant trackers More than 50% of the player base are in ranks gold and below.
If you think you’re low rank just know that you may be above average, Immortal and Radiant are the top 1% with Radiants being the top 0.03%. Even if you’re Platinum you’re above 60-70% of the player base.
What is RR?
RR in Valorant is Rank Rating, as you play a match in competitive you earn Rank Rating. The better your performance the more RR you gain, if you performed average or poorly it will reflect on your RR. When you win but underperform you’ll barely gain any RR but if you lose but you’re MVP you’ll lose the minimum RR, remember this before you surrender because you may have a chance to minimize the amount of RR you lose.
If you draw you lose 0RR but if you out performed you will gain 1-5 RR. The ranks you play against will greatly affect the amount you gain as well, for example if you’re Diamond but you lost against a lower tier in platinum or even gold you risk losing a lot more RR than normal, if you win you may not gain much.
What is MMR?
Matchmaking Rating is what determines your skill level and who you match against. This allows for higher or ranks to play in your game as long as you do not queue with them.
How to check valorant MMR
MMR is hidden from you by Riot games, this is done to create a fair environment in your rank matches. Every now and then Riot will tweak the MMR system to make your matches more balanced.
What’s the difference between MMR and RR?
Rank Ratings are the points for your rank while Matchmaking Rating is to determine your skill level for better placement in rank. These may be two different terms but they work hand and hand to improve your Competitive mode experience and make it less likely that you run into a higher-ranked player on an alternative account.
